Are You Feeling Old?

by Pat on March 16, 2012

Are you feeling older than you actually are?

You could be a baby boomer and feeling your aches and pains, or you could be a younger person who just doesn't seem to have the energy that you used to. Are you dragging yourself through your day?

How we feel is a common topic among people whether or not they are at home, at work, or a social event.  In fact in my age group it can be the topic for the whole evening when we get together!

Of course how we feel has two parts to it.  There is the physical side of how our body feels.  Is it working right or are we having 'issues' in one area or another.

Then there is the mental/emotional side of how our mental energy or feelings are at any given moment.  For some people, emotional changes can dominate their lives and keep them from enjoying life to the full.

When we put these two areas together we get the picture of whether on any given day we can truthfully say we feel great – or not.

Baby boomers as a group seemed to be pretty determined NOT to feel their age.   We have embraced every staying young idea or product that there is and made many companies rich in the process.

"Anti aging' is the key word of almost every kind of ad on TV or in magazines, whether it be for food, a beauty product, exercise equipment, travel, or vitamin supplements.

I know that I personally do not want to age.  I am thankful that I have always had a young and positive attitude in many ways. In fact I feel like I never grew up.  I am quite happy to hang around little kids as they can be so much more fun sometimes than my own age group.  But the calendar year reminds me that my body is aging and my age number is climbing what seems to be faster and faster.

And a terrible thing is about to happen.

I am about to be married to an old age pensioner, as my husband is turning 65

Now that is a shock to the system and makes ME feel old.  Somehow it felt like it was a long way away and suddenly it is here.  I can only give him a bad time about being 'old' for one more year, and then I join him.  I have somehow never come to terms with the fact that I too will someday be an old age pensioner.  It just sounds soooo old.

And all you young folks reading this, don't laugh.  As guess what! You will get here some day as well, and a lot sooner than you think.

So my advice is to make the most of every day that you can.  I know you have heard that before, but I would encourage you to take it seriously.  Make your bucket list right now.  You don't know what that is?  It is the list of all the things that you want to do before you pass on.

So make it now.  Post it where you can see it.  Put an "I will do it by' date beside the ones that are the most important to you.  Then figure out a plan to make it happen.

Now to live as long as possible so you get to do your list, eating right is a real priority

Here is an interesting comparison done a few years ago about the different nutritional value in our food.  It certainly makes me think the overpriced organic might not be very overpriced as far as value at all.  Of course we do not know if the organic in our particular stores is grown in the same medium and therefore of the quality of this example.  But I am sure there is still a good difference as the mass produced produce is forced grown to get as ripe and as large as quickly as possible.  So that minimizes the nutrients it can take in.

So we eat right to feel as well as possible and then we need to decide how to spend our time.

None of us are guaranteed a certain number of days on this planet.  So use each day to the best of your ability, making a positive difference in the world along the way.

If you want a simple way to make a positive difference and not even have to change your job or much of your routine.  You can check out an option available by clicking on the picture on the side bar of this website where it says "Would you like to help the malnourished children"

So if you don't want to feel old eat your veggies, take real food supplements like I do, and make sure you put some time and energy into making the world a better place.

That will make your heart feel good, and that's good anti aging medicine.

Love Your Neighbour.

by Pat on February 13, 2012

February = Valentine's Day

Many are thinking of special ways to be nice to each other.  The old saying is that 'love is in the air'

The young are hoping for a hot date, a nice gift of flowers, candy or maybe even jewelry.

Now we older baby boomers have seen many Valentine's Days come and go, and we know that Valentine's Day is not really representative of what real love is all about.

Real love is about full commitment and caring, 24/7, all year long, every year.  It is not just being extra nice on one special day of the year.  Real love is also not just between boyfriend to girlfriend or husband to wife.

Real love is caring for all people, all of the time.  Loving your neighbour as much, or even more than, you love yourself.

Your neighbour is of course your physical neighbour in the house next door.  It is also the person that you don't know in line in front of you at the cashier.  It is the people driving on the freeway with you in rush hour. (reminder to myself)  It is also the strangers you see on TV that have been caught in the latest earthquake, fire or accident.

Our neighbour is every other human being on the planet.

So it is easy to say, love your neighbour, but so much harder to actually do it as the world is big, and our efforts can seem so small.

I know that for me it is easy to say I care about others, and yet for instance, I can be so impatient when I am in a line up for something and someone seems so slow and holding up the line.

I can smile and chat with the cute little child I see somewhere, but easily frown at the next tired worn out mother that doesn't seem to have her children as well trained and they are misbehaving and bothering me.

Isn't it amazing how we can turn so fast from being a caring, wonderful friendly person, to an annoyed, impatient one the next moment. We are all human, so the tendency is there.

So loving our neighbour can sometimes be hard and it takes specific conscious effort to do it.

Then there is the matter of loving ourselves.  For some people it is way easier to be kind and generous to someone else, and never really be kind or generous to themselves.

Often mothers of young children have this problem.  They look after everyone else in the family, and their own needs are left to last.  They don't eat right.  They don't get enough sleep, and have no special time for relaxation.  So they can easily start losing their own health and energy, while at the same time being very serious about making it a priority to look after their family's health.

So this Grandma's Valentines advice to all mom's is this.  Find money in the budget for good natural supplements and make sure you as the mother are the first one to use them.  If a mother is healthy and energetic and caring for herself, then she will have the mental and physical energy to have a good plan in place for the rest of her family for sure.

There are very few families who have the space these days to grow enough organic food for their family to eat for the best of health.  We all know that the food in our grocery stores is often grown in depleted soil,  picked before it's ripe, and often travels a long way before we get to eat it.  So adding good real food nutritional supplements is the best way to provide proper complete nutrition to those we care about.

If there is no money in the budget for natural vitamin supplements, then join a company that has a great blessing referral plan that can help you afford the best for yourself, while helping your friends know about them as well.

And if you want to really love your neighbour as yourself, then join the company who uses it's profits to ship the same all natural source supplements to children in Orphanages all around the world for free.  It is called the Give For Real program.

This Valentines give the best gift -The gift of health to yourself, to your family ,and to a child in need all at the same time.

What Does Hope Have To Do With Health?

December 5, 2011

I was thinking a lot recently about Hope and Health.  One definition that I read said that hope is the feeling that what is wanted can be had, or events will turn out for the best. There is so much evidence that how we think and feel about things has so much affect upon our health.   [...]
